Hi,

I want to create a cube group based on region dimension. The categories in dimension are UK, Germany, France, Spain, Japan, US

By normal cube group, it creates cube for each region. The way I want is one cube for UK and Germany, another with France and Spain. US and Japan individual on their own. How to do this?!

thansk in advance.

regards,
Sudhi

You will need to either create another level in your existing dimesnion or create another dimension which contains the groupings you require.

Or create several output cubes with several Dimension view defined , once for each output cube.

thanks for inputs.

hav one more problem now!

now... the sub-cube want to create are
a) one cube for UK and Germany,
b) with France and Spain
c) UK, US and Japan individual on their own.

UK is in cube a) and also as a separate cube.

Even with a top level/dimension it loooks difficult to achive...

Sudhi

u mean...
Show Diagram -> Dimensions -> Click on Dimension -. Add New View???

By doing so, I can exclude, suppress, etc etc... but how will that help me in building cube group like i want?

even if i specify that view name in Cube properties - Dimensions tab, it still gived sub cubes based on my origial category list...

i must be missing somehting. please.

thanks.

Sudhi

Don't create a cube group.

Create seperate cubes and base them on the relevant dimension view.

thanks.

The cube with all categories takes 2 hrs to build, if i build each separately then its almost 2 x no of cubes...?

would be difficult one. i guess no other solutions.

Sudhi

Reading database and generating the categories is done only once.

Then the time to generate all cubes is never the same with the sub-cubes and dimension view cubes.
The sub-cubes and dimension view cubes are only sorting categories and generating the mdc.

You have to look in the Log file to analyse how long each cube processing takes.
