I was under the impression that if ext. 1234 has a CTI route point of 4000, a call will look to ring ext. 1234 but since the ext. has a CTI route in its set up then the call is routed to this CTI point 4000. Is the 4000 number taken out of the avilable extension range, is it real i.e since it has been assigned to something as far as CM is concerned it is being used so can not be allocate else where. The reason I`m asking is that we have been informed that we can set up a single CTI route point for every extension say 4xxx even if we have extension beginning with 4xxx- Is this correct ? or will be there a conflict . It was mentioned on 3.3.4 and 4.0/4.1 by Cisco

Your message did not flow very well, but I will give it a shot.

My understanding is this.

A CTI route point is just that. A route point. You call that one number and it then routes to different things like voice mail or an external system. The extension assigned is a valid extension on the system and cannot be used on a phone.

I am not completely following what you asking about the 4xxx extensions and I don't want to give you bad information. Can you explain in greater detail what it is you are trying to accomplish? I read it as you want to call a CTI route point with extension 4000 and have it ring all 4xxx extensions.
