Hi all
I have a question re: CTI when a call arrives you use the rs232 port of the kxtd12-32 to direct the call to the pc? right . you then use the tapi driver to activate the screen popping software ?
Ok then my question is this.. for outgoing calls if the customer wants to use a headset and a windows based dialer. do they have to have a analogue modem in there pc to make the call ?. or is external line picked up from the rs232 port? or do they need another piece of equipment?.

As you can tell I have never covered CTI before any help would be great.

The TAPI driver just allows you to basically take control of various aspects of the phones. As long as the dialler software being used is told to use the correct extension via the panasonic TAPI driver, and the headset is connected to the actual phone, when you dial from the PC, the call will actually be made from that handset as a normal call without pressing any keys on the phone. No modem needed.

thanks shardian

that answers the question

No worries. You can actually have fun with TAPI. Our office has a TD500 in it and I've had hours of fun connecting up to it and making calls from other people's phones and leaving message lamps and stuff....confuses the hell out of people.

is there a good tapi programs around that works with the
tsp driver?

The tsp driver seems to be designed to integrate with any program that can access a tapi device. Phone dialler that comes with windows can actually use tapi and if you line that with outlook, you can call contacts straight from your contacts.

I use a program called phone.exe for all my testing - it can be found at

I loaded the tsp_td driver on a windows 2 k machine and
also downloaded the software you sugested have a -4 kx-td 816 in the shop connected and can't get it to do a blessed
thing can you think of anything I could be missing
do I need a set of cti chips?
