CSV/ftp file with invalid characters

Good Morning All.
I have run across a problem with an export to an outside vendor. I execute a fairly simple Crystal report and FTP it to their site using the automatic scheduler. When I open the file in either Notepad or EXCEL, the file looks great. But this company says that there are (3) invalid characters on the first line in the first three positions. They had me open the file in windows, on a command line using "MORE". And yes, I see the characters. I have used this variations of this process for other companies but this is the first time I have run into this situation. Is there any thing I am missing that is creating these characters? and how would I go about correcting this?
Many thanks for all your help.

You should be able to figure out the source of the undesired characters by looking at the report.

If you can't avoid these special characters, at least one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports desktop schedulers listed at allows you to export, replace undesired characters in the export file, and FTP (all in a single pass).
