I'm trying to export a main frame file into Excel. I can send a .csv file and open it with Excel. All works well except for text fields that look like numbers with leading zeroes. I cannot change those fields in the main frame as they represent customer part numbers (the main frame jobs don't have a problem with leading zeroes -- it's all text). Does anyone know how I can format my .csv file so Excel will retain the leading zeroes? Even better, so it will treat the field as text and not right-justify it? I've tried putting double quotes around the field, but they just seem to be ignored.

Hi,

Rather than OPEN the .csv, IMPORT it into a blank sheet, using Data > Import External Data > IMPORT...

You have control over the COLUMN Data Type this way, and can specify those column needing leading ZEROS, as TEXT.

To get a new copy of data when you EXPORT from the mainframe, assuming the path\file name is identical, all you need do is select in the QueryTable (the data) and Data > Refersh

Hmmm, Data Refersh ... is that a new command, Skip???? ;-)

Cheers, Glenn.
