I have a report that will dump to a csv file; the sections are as follows:

GH1
GH1a
Da
Db

However, when opening the exported csv file, all the sections are run together. Anyone know how to force a line break after each section in the report, or solve it using any technique?

You aren't getting a carriage return at the end of every line?

One point that confuses some folks. Any flat export (CSV, tab separated, etc) will inlcude every visible object in every record. So your GH fields will appear in every record. That is the nature of CSV. Ken Hamady

Essentially I am getting a return at the end of every record, because in this case each group only contains one record.

Anyway, the workaround is to insert a bogus text object at the end of the first three sections, such as "$$$". Then when I open the csv file in Word, I do a find and replace to change the $$$ to a manual line feed character (^|). Kind of a pain, but the end result is what I need to deliver.

Thanks!

What if you export to text, instead of CSV?
You could embed the fields and commas into a text object on the detail lines. Ken Hamady
