Hi,

I need to export 136000 records into a CSV file. I have tried doing this using crystal but it says excel can only support 62000 records.

Can anybody tell me how I can do this?

Many Thanks

Can't you export as CSV? It should be there as an option.

It helps to give your Crystal version - 8, 8.5, 9, 10, 11 or whatever. Methods sometimes change between versions, and higher versions have extra options.

Jason,

I think that your problem is due to Microsoft hijacking the CSV file extension and making it default as an Excel file; after all, they know much better than you what application you should use to deal with a particular file type!!! Until Excel 2007, the limit on spreadsheet rows is around 65,000, thus your problem in exporting more than that number of records.

You can either upgrade to Excel 2007, export the file as a comma delimited TEXT file not a CSV, or set the default program for CSV files to notepad/wordpad or the like.

I've just hit a variant of this problem, in my case it was suppressing leading zeros on the date. I was able to overcome it by changing the CSV default to text using Windows XP options, Tools > Folder Options from a file. I thought this worth recording for future reference.
