Hello,

I am trying to find a CSU that will be able to take an AMI/D4 signal from the telco and translate it to ESF/B8ZS for an IP Office voice T1. The input and output on the CSU should be RJ-45, and it must be able to make this translation.

Currently, AMI/D4 is working with the IP Office, but there are a ton of errors showing up on the circuit. Avaya recommended a CSU that would translate this signal to ESF/B8ZS to make the IP Office and the Verizon circuit happy.

Any relevant experience or suggestions on CSU models, please post. Thanks in advance.

The framing format (D4 or ESF) and the line coding (AMI or B8ZS) is the provisioning you order from the telco (Verizon); you can't change it in the CSU. You will have to ask Verizon to change the provisioning of the T-1 and then use a suitable CSU. Adtran makes a pretty inexpensive CSU (ACE); or you can find a used Paradyne 3160 someplace. However, in the later IP Office releases you have the option to enable a built-in CSU. The built-in CSU is "loopable" by Verizon in case they want to status the circuit, but it doesn't appear to have any significant diagnostic tools which may be of help to you if you continue to experience errors.
