Css Rollovers which stay rolled over when clicked

Ok guys bear with me as i attempt to explain this one.

I have successfully created some rollover buttons with css for the navigation of my website. However when the link is clicked and the new page is loaded the buttons are all the default un-hovered colour. I would like to keep the button i clicked which corresponds to the page im viewing to stay the colour that the rollover is. Anybody got any advice or links to tutorials that may help?

One way of many would be to give the button that is "clicked" a different class, and use that to style it differently.

good idea and thanks for the suggestion however the difficult part is im using an include file (.ascx) to display my navigation in the page. Not sure how i could do it with the same nav being displayed on every page.

What sort of file is a .ascx file? If it's .Net, then you should be able to use server-side scripting to dynamically change the class of the selected item, I would have thought.
