Hi guys,
double question here :)

I'm having a problem in my main site
I have set the top nav table (the one with 5 links) to a width of 100%, problem is when I checked it in IE5.5 it had set the width to 100% of window NOT 100% of the parent div.
I tried to use a work around, but now I have no access to IE5x. Can anyone please take a quick look and tell me if tooks ok?
If it doesn't, any ideas please? I need to keep the table at 100% if possible to help the cells flow.

PS, the design is crap but it's just a test with CSS layout!

Second question:

Thinking of buying a new PC and I was wondering what you guys think is the basic requirements of a system to do web design. I code by hand so I wouldn't be using dreamweaver etc not for the forseable future anyway! Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks!!!!

Hi mate,

Sorry but I don't have access to IE5.x just now, but I will check it out when I get a chance.

Regarding the PC, this really comes down to what you will be using on it. If you use graphics programs a lot then you are better with a high amount of memory and a good processor speed. Otherwise, the most basic PC would be fine. Sorry I can't be of more help..

Hope this helps Wullie

Hi Wullie,

Thanks mate, i'd appreciate it. I tried using a work around I found on the net but I only have rare access to IE5x so I can't check it. My page should be the size of the browser and "flow" but in IE5 the right col is off the page and you need to scroll sideways! ARRGH!

PC:: Thanks! I was thinking along the same lines!

Like the quotation btw! :)

Hi mate,

Sorry I took so long to get back to you but this is the first chance I have got. I just installed a second OS and it had IE5 pre-installed.

I checked it in IE5 and IE5.5, both browsers at 800 and 1024 resolution and I don't see the problem. Both browsers render the page correctly. Possibly you have changed something, there is no horizontal scrolling for me. Good work!!

Hope this helps Wullie

Hi Wullie,

Thanks mate! I appreciate you taking the time!
yeah I changed it last weekend. I took the troublesome table out of its parent element and stuck it at the top, now I have images there so the table doesn't need to flow! much easier to manage!

Thanks again
