I have been using CSS for a little while but am new to Dreamweaver. My question is this....

If I use CSS for all of my positioning and style elements, is there any reason to use Dreamweaver templates? I can see where templates would be used if I am using a table-based layout, but changing the stylesheet will change all of my pages, so I'm not sure there is a need for me to use templates. I do, however, see where using a library item (for the navigation bar) is very handy. Am I correct or am I missing something? How are some of you using templates with CSS?

I always felt a template was useful when you need to pass elements from page to page without assigning or calling them on each page (cookies, connection strings, etc.). Also it is helpful to keep consistency. I would say it would depend on the purpose and technical details of your site.

It's a matter of preference in my eyes.

I prefer to use SSI or CSS instead of templates. this way any changes only require 1 file to be uploaded where if it was templates you have to upload everything
