css alignment problem

hi guys,
know this is a really basic css problem but am pretty new to css.I have three elements on a page that are being control via external css. Ive got the menu going accross the top, the remaining two are meant to be side by side accross the page. The problems is that they are appearing kind of diagonally in the browser (one lower than the other). How can I line them up?

You would use "float". Specific help cannot be given without knowing anythnig about your code, however.
