i had to replace the shared disk from a cluster. there were no problem to remove the broken disk from the cluster nodes using CSPOC (also from the nodes where the shared VG was not varied on the disk was removed from the shared vg configuration). (I had run rmdev -dl p(h)diskX on all cluster nodes the disk was shared)

I added new disk to the shared loop and run cfgmgr on all cluster nodes. the disk is configured and have the same pvid on all cluster nodes but when I am trying to extendvg with this disk (via CSPOC)I get an error after I choose the shared VG:

1800-106 An error occurred:

smitty hacmp
System Management (C-SPOC)
HACMP Logical Volume Management
Shared Volume Groups
Set Characteristics of a Shared Volume Group
Add a Volume to a Shared Volume Group

any ideas?

hi ,

There are some errors in CSPOC, and full errors are sometimes not reported what maintenance level of HACMP are you running ? ( 5 i think is the latest
lslpp -l | grep cluster ( check e.g cluster.es.server.rte
shows 5.1.0.5

Plus there is also a CSPOC fix under HACMP 5.1 which is
IY58099 , have you got that installed

The other thing to try is , add the disks to the volume group using smit ( not CSPOC) , if any errors occur then
you'll get more output

then sync your LV's as normal

on box 1 ,

varyonvg -b -u vgname

on bocx 2

importvg -L vgname hdisk?

on box1

varyonvg vgname

check if the ODM of all both nodes are OK
smitty clverify.dialog

You may be need to re-discover your configuration:

3 weeks ago the last ML of HACMP 5.1 was 7

I agree with DSMARWAY, the best way is importvg.

there is no problem to create new LV/FS using CSPOC...the only problem I met so far is adding a disk to VG.

is it save to run mentioned commands on running cluster?

I mean:
On node having VG varied on:
extendvg vgname newdisk
varyonvg -b -u vgname

On the other nodes (not having the VG varied on)
importvg -L vgname hdisk?
