I'm sure this was me, but I've got a bit lost.
I use CS3. Excellent, very happy. But.
Lately, something has happened to gradients and all 'blurred' dges, like soft brushes.
I'm getting a sort of stepped gradient, so instead of a gradual blur, when I zoom in close I get lines at one colour, then slightly lighter, and so on.
This is most obvious in garients, where the problem is clear at any level of magnification.

For info, this is on a 32bit RGB colour document.
My screen resolution is 1680x1050 16bit, on a decnt laptop.

Help?

If it was working then maybe your preferences need to be reset to their install state, they sometimes get "hosed" and strange happen.

While holding down the [Ctrl Alt Shift ] keys, Start > All Programs > Photoshop.

A MessageBox will ask "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings File" to which you answer Yes.

The Preferences file will be rebuilt and hopefully your problem is fixed.

Also have you been keeping up with Adobe CS3 upgrades?

good luck
