I am trying to send 10 digits on an NXX call over a PRI. In viewing previous posts, I tried to setup a DMI to change the call from a NXX to NPA, and then assign it to the entries on the RLI. When I do that I can not call out with 7 digits. I have to call out with 10 digits. So I would like to dial a 7 digit number, and then have clid send 10 digit.

I'm not sure you are using the right terms. CLID is what appears on someones Caller ID display when you call them.

If some calls need 7 and some calls need 10, Make the NXX a three digit SPN, then make the NPA a four digits 1NPA.

I would recommend one change from GHTrouts post above.

If you need to use both 7 and 10 digit dialing, and want your dial plan to be E164 compliant, then you need to program your NXX's as NXX's, especially if you have PRI's, as the call types are tagged based on these configurations.

Carriers react differently based on those call tags, so make sure you do thorough testing after making any changes.

allenmac, that is a great point. Let's say (fictitious) Area Code 554 needed some ten and some seven digit dialing. Could 554 be an NXX in that case? As you know, it can only appear once in the NET.

I actually can't confirm that exists anywhere - maybe it does not (7 and 10 at the same time inside the same area code)

Yes, because if you are still in an area that support 7 digit dialing, all local calls will be 7 digit, and the other calls will be long distance, requiring 1+NPA dialing.

So in this case you are not required to dial NPA+NXX+Line for local calls, you are just dialing NXX+Line, while calls in the same NPA that are not local are dialed as 1+NPA+NXX+Line.
