I upgraded from 61C old CP3 processors to the new P IV's.
I installed new card cage core/net. Cabled as per NTP's. Now I do not have any lights on my new processor card. I have red lights on the CNI and Sys util cards, but noe on the CP. I get nothing on the terminal. ALL network cards are up and running on the old Core 0. I ckd sys util card settings to made sure they were configed for Core 1.

Anyone have any ideas why i am not getting power to the CP?

did you change the ps for that shelf? is this a dc switch? those had a problem with working for years unless someone turned them off.. power to the cpu is not a cable, it's either a bad ps, cpu or cage... not good news on an upgrade... with lights on the cni, the ps looks like it may be good.. i would swap the ps, then the cpu..

Thanks John, I had the same ideas, already swapped the CPU out of the other core, even swapped the Sys util for good measure. I haven't tried another PS, but will, if that doesn't work I guess I will swap out the card cage again.
I may try putting in a tckt with Nortel on Monday, but didn't want to do it on the week-end, they don't support an upgrade after hours without a PO.

This is the 1st PIV I have done, so thought I may be missing something.

thanks

Forgot, yes it is a DC switch, I think it's the NT5D41CA ps

When upgrading to CPP, you need to change DC power supply. Nortel may provide it. On the first upgrade i did, Nortel forget it. After that we get the right board : NT6D41DA (if my memory is right) NTPs says NT6D41CE for minimun rls.
That new board provide +5.1V for CPP hardware

definitely check the power supply.

Had the same item and the power supply was replaced not exchanged. Once I put the new one in it worked like a champ.
