Hello,

Can anyone provide clarification on the information that is being backed up with various methods used. The system is CS1000 release 7.0 element manager.

Steps being taken for backups:

Navigate to EM > Tools > Backup and Restore > Call Server > Backup ; I assume this is the same thing as LD 43 EDD that does backups to the removable media.

Run sysbackup -b from the linux base via command line to an SFTP server. As I understand this reads the backup file information from the step performed above.
Question: Can this backup be used for full system restore including user data, tn programming, trunk programming etc? What is the difference in this backup as opposed to the Call Server Backup/EDD?

Lastly run the FTP Backup Rule through EM for the database. This file is only around 54KB what information is this backing up? User information, TN information, Trunks?

I sound like a noob asking these questions but want to make sure backups being done correctly in the event of a disaster.

Thanks in advance,
Tony

This is what I believe anyway, but could be totally wrong. The backups usually back the config (tn,config programming, ect. to an on board u drive and the removable media. The software ( Rls data base, Linux, EM ect) is not. That is why you should have the software CDs or Flash drive to restore the software Rls.

If its not working, get a bigger hammer!
