I need to test the expansion ports (DS-30X and CE-MUX) on the NTDU14 and NTDU15 cabinets in the Lab. Please assist me with these questions:

1) Are the expansion cables between these ports - DS-30X and CE-MUX (NTDU14 to NTDU15) a one-to-one cable?
2) What do I need to configure in the main cabinet (NTDU14) using EM so that it sees the expansion cabinet and verify that these ports are working?

Any help anyone gives would be appreciated!

They are a straight through cable, proprietary though. I wouldn't use just any 25 pin cable. The expansion cabinet gives you card slots 7,8,9 and 10. You don't need to do anything to configure them. Just build your phones on those card slots.

The cable is labeled also, what end goes to the expansion cabinet. Not sure why it matters but the book does say to make sure the expansion label goes to the expansion cabinet.

Note: The NTDK95 cable is a uni-directional cable with a ferrite bead at
one end that needs to be terminated on the expansion cabinet end. The
NTDK95 cable direction can be identified by the label on the cable. This
label must be installed at the expansion cabinet end.

Thanks KCFLHRC! I will order the cable. However I am not too clear on 'just building the phone on the cards.' Currently I have MGC in slot 0 and CPPM in slot 1 and using 1140 and 1150 IP phones for testing. No intention of filling the rest of NTDU14 slots. But would like to test the expansion ports.

So which card can be used on the NTDU15 cabinets, say slot 7, just for testing, or building the phones? Does the NTDU14 not need to be configured for the expansion card's existence? THANKS MUCH!!

Once you add the expansion it will just recognize the cards you plug into it. You can use digital, analog or universal trunk cards in it. You however can not put a T-1 card in the expansion cabinet, they have to go in the main cabinet.

Thanks very much! I ordered the cable. As soon as I get it, I will try the suggestion. Thanks again!!

You will need 2 of these cables to complete your connections.

It's a phone system, NOT a clock!
