Good Afternoon

UK based network engineer

Looking for some advise regarding CS1000 installation/maintenance training.

I am currently employed (12 years) as a network engineer covering support of our organisations nortel voice and data networks.

We have a number of CS1000e and Meridian Option systems which we administer - BT cover installations and maintenance. Since moving into IP Telephony via our CS1000e I have been a lot more hands on with working on this system. However I would like to gain a more "engineering" level of understanding with this system - ultimtley it would be an area I would like to work/specialise in, in the near future. I have had a number of years experience in installation of traditional telephone systems and have set-up all the data networking in the provision of our CS1000e and IP Telephony rollouts so I'm not coming at this with little experience/knowledge - just not had specific training in Nortel systems.

I have had a look at sites like global knowledge, etc but the courses are expensive for someone who would self-fund. Can anyone advise on a fast-track route (if there is such a thing) to gain more experience with the CS1000?

Alternatively are there other UK based companies - other than BT - who specialise in CS1000/Call Pilot/CC6 installations/maintenance, who I could contact for possible positions?

Cheers in advance

Able

Here in the US, some vendors will offer training courses as part of the package of new installs or upgrades. You might want to talk to BT to see if they have such a system and if your company qualifies. If they do and your company will foot the bill, you may get your training for free, or at the very least for only the cost of travel and accommodations.
