Hi,
How can I find if there is a CounterStrike server in the net? I would a piece of code in C or in Java or in Perl

When you say net, are you talking about a LAN network or over the internet? If your talking about LAN then you could use a port scanner to look for port 27015 on computers. 27015 is the default port for half-life server but the port number can also be changed. If over the internet then use something like GameSpy or All Seeing Eye.

Thanks FaiTHLeSS
but I would know how to make sure what they are CounterStrike datagram packets. As far as I know, CS use an UDP based protocol, maybe IPX. Do you have any idea?

Half-life based server use UDP protocol to communicate between server and client. Client port is usaully 27005 but it can also be changed by the client.

Is there any ways to ping this port?

You can try to ping using hping2. It allows you to specify many of the options, including src and dst ports and even TCP, UDP and ICMP in addition to others.

But a non-response in UDP generally doesn't mean anything, since it is connection-less and has a higher likelihood of dropping on the floor.

Ok, the last question,
How can I know what there are CS datagrams, so how to analyse packets?
