If you have a CS 1000E with PIV processors and it's not going to be hooked up to the customers network what do you plug into the L1 jacks of the processors. Do you plug L1 to L1 like L2 to L2 does or do you leave them empty.
Just curious if I answered it correctly.

No, you should be wiring those jacks to the back of the Core modules, using the supplied lan adapter, then use a cross over cable to connect the two L1 connections.

Or you could just connect them to an ELAN hub with straight through cables.

If you leave them unplugged, your system will give you errors.

Hope this helps.

John

Wouldn't connecting them to an Elan hub be the same as connecting them together?

Lan1 is the Elan. It have to be connected on both side with a crossover cable or with a straight cable to a switch.
Lan2 is the HSP lan. It also have to be connected as the same way. It's the database synchonization LAN between both cores.

The 2 LANs MUST be connected. If you unconnected Elan the CPU switch from active to inactive. If you unconnected HSP, only synchro don't operate, but traffic stay on the active CPU
