Calling all CR gurus! I need some insight. I develop a VB 6 application that uses the CRViewer control to preview and print the .rpt files. We use MSDE as our database. We just upgraded from Crystal 8.5 to version 11, and now we get an "Error creating ActiveX object" each time we try to preview a report on Windows 98. It works fine on Win 2000 and XP, but we've been wracking our brains trying to figure out why it fails on 98. Is there some .dll that's not getting properly installed, or some registry keys we need to update?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. So I can't use the version 11 CRViewer, but apparently Crystal 10 works on Win 98, because I found this article that talks about using the CR 10 ActiveX viewer on Win 98 successfully.

So is the solution for me to use CR 10 instead of CR 11?

The issue is not Crystal 10 or Crystal XI. The issue is UNICODE support. Starting with Crystal 9, UNICODE support is required. Win 98 doesn't come with UNICODE support.

If you succedd in consistently adding UNICODE support to your Win 98 machines, I'd be delighted to hear how...)
