Crystal XI report parameter default

I have input defaults for some parameter date fields which I don't want any more. I can't find a way of getting rid of the default value entered other than deleting the whole parameter field and losing all references to it, and then recreating it again. It looks like it lets you delete the default value but when you go back in to the parameter again it reappears!

Does anyone know how to get round this without deleting the parameter field and starting again?
