Has anyone sucessfully installed the activex runtime controls for XI on a 98 machine. I have an install that works perfectly on 2000 and xp, but I get a 1723 error on 98. The info on the Crystal Web site appears to be contradictory, the indicate that 98 is not supported however the pdf file with the instructions for creating an install has info about dll problems with 98 and how to solve them.

Unfortunatly it does not seem to have info for solving mine.

Please be aware we are installing the activex controls not the .net controls.

Also solutions involving Crystal Web server are not going to be helpful in this situation.

Thanks.

We ended up having to create a separate installer for Win98 that used the CR 9 merge modules (which do have Win98 support) instead of the XI merge modules to get around this. Since this was such a PIA (the code had to be written in such a way that we had to check whether the machine was Win 98 or higher to determine how to create the Application object), we ended up requiring Win 2K or higher to run our software.
