Hi all,

I continue to use Crystal V7 because it provides all the functionality I need, and it it so easy to create report distributions with free run-time.

The target application uses the Pervasive database engine.

I use the "Data File" option rather than SQL/ODBC. This points directly to the .ddf files and has always worked fine. The main requirement imposed is that the report must reside in the same folder as the files being accessed.

I have recently upgraded two users to the latest version of the application software (a packaged product) and the Pervasive Client/Server V8.6 database engine. All works fine, except that a crystal report I have written for one user will not run. It works OK on my system and another similar report works OK on another similar site.

When I launch the distributed report .exe file the initial dialog opens prompting for sheduling, output and other settings. Clicking "Done" normally launches the record selection parameter dialog but, on this particular site, it just dies. No errors, just closes and goes away.

I am assuming is must be someting to do with user permissions, but they all seem to me very open. The distributed run-time executable resides in a shared, mapped folder on the server and I am guessing it might be some setup that inhibits running applications across the network.

I wonder if anyone has any suggestons that might help?

CR 7 hasn't been supported for a long time, part of the price for using old versions is the inability to readily diagnose issues.

You have a proprietary application, and 7+ year old software, so I would suggets that you instal CR 7 directly on the machine that is failing and see if that works. If so, then it's an application issue, if not, then perhaps it's an OS issue or connectivity, permissioning, etc.

Shame the app doesn't always raise errors, you might also check the event log on the machine for ideas...
