Crystal smart viewer for ActiveX rendering problem

I have an application with an Oracle backend. I have hooked up Seagate Crystal for priniting data from the database. This data includes a .tiff image (Oracle BOLB data element).

The image when viewed in a crystal report appears fine along with the other data I am pulling out of the DB. The problem is when I view the same data in the smart viewer for ActiveX. The image is no longer rendered, but the other text data is fine. Would you have an idea why this happens?
