I am using Crystal professional v9. Currently I have about 600 reports that have been published. Many of these reports use a formula that has been hard coded but is the same for all the reports. Recently I discovered that this formula must be modified. I understand that with version 9 there is a repository that exists.

How can I place the modified formula in the repository so that I only have to make the modification once and it will affect all reports? Is this even possible now that the reports have already been published? If not I would still like to create the modified formula in the repository and then modify all the reports to use the repository formula.

You can make bulk changes to many reports at once with a tool called ".rpt Inspector".

since all your reports are calling a formula...you will not be able to change them all at once ..... unless you use the tool bdreed35 has suggested.

Basically, in future cases. Instead, create a custom function that contains your formula --- and save that function to the Repository. Then, when you create a formula, you use that function, passing the fields/values you need for that specific report.

But watch if you ever upgrade from CR9 to 10.

in CR9, the repository is a database. By default it is a local MS-Access file, but you can point it at any ODBC source.

in Cr10 it is inside the Crystal Enterprise database, so requires a named user enterprise license to use in the report designer.

You can also use a Processor licensed version of CE10 as well, not just Named user..
