Good Morning,

I routinely use Crystal to pull predominately text based reports out of our Database (MIDAS). The host database has (what I think is) a weird way of cataloging text in that each line of the body of text is treated as a seperate cell of the database. So, when I pull this text field into Crystal for reporting, it's width is unchangeable. I've had someone share with me previously some format "stripping" code (can't find that at the moment) which helped with the width issues, but everything was lost in the process in terms of spacing, carriage returns, etc.

Pie in the sky probably, but does anyone know of a way to spread this text out without losing the carriage returns, paragraphs, etc?

Thanks!

Hi,
Try dropping that field into a text box in Crystal..It may offer more formatting options than a text field.

You can group text items in a formula field. You can also replace unwanted characers, removing or replacing them. Or use Split to break up lines.

Chr(13) is the ASCII Carriage Return. You can define it in a formula field and insert it where needed.
