Crystal Reports: Split values in a field separated by “;#” so that I can group and count

My data is from SharePoint and has been imported into an Access database. The field is called: Target Audience and the table is editorial (editorial . Target Audience)

The values in the field (or row on the report) can be any of the following: External Internal Media External;#Internal;#Media External;#Internal External;#Media Internal;#Media

I am trying to split these values so that they can each be counted on their own. They also need to be able to be grouped and to create a pie chart.

There are 991 records in the table. I have been able to run some queries in SharePoint that provided the following breakdown: External = 579 Internal = 525 Media = 104 for a grand total of: 1208

You can't group on these values because each record can only be in one group and you need records to be in two or more different groups. That is the challenge with a multi-value field, which is what you have here. There is a workaround but it is pretty complex with lots of steps:

Thank you! I ended up modifying my database to accommodate the many fields that are multi-value fields.
