Crystal Reports speed-Background processing

When I take a simple report from a simple(access) data base with 10000 records, In Crystal reports when I take it it comes relativly fast with the first page appearng and otherpages being processed on the background.But when i take the same page fom vb it is very very slow and appears only afte all the pages are processed
please also advise me The fastest way of calling reports
When I look at reorts in programmes like Quickbooks it comes in lightning speed

i made an exe using cyrstal reports and when i run the exe
and selected promp it ask for a database name.what name should i give here.I am using oracle as back end
