Hello all:

I am using CR Server XI, I have a report that will not dynamically list dates when a user goes to preview the report. What am I missing.

Thanks

Do you mean it won't prompt with a parameter of dynamic dates, meaning dates available in the database?

You need to create a parmaeter and select dynamic and point to the field in the database to have this happen.

The you need to reference the parameter in the Report->Selection Formulas->Record as in:

{table.field} = {?MyParameter}

-k

Right! It works in CR Developer where the report was created. It just wont work in CR Server.

I guess I should have specified the error I am getting on the CR Server when I try to run this report.

CrystalReportViewer

[tt]Error in File User Authentication Failure Report:[/tt]
Failed to load database information.

Unable to retrieve Object.
[small]Error in File User Authentication Failure Report: Failed to load database information.[/small]

How did you create the dynamic parameter, by pointing to a table, using a Command Object, or?

It sounds as if the database/user password information isn't properly set for the report.

Also make sure that you apply the latest service pack.

I am not sure I follow what you mean by: table or command object. But my understanding is that I am pointing to a table.

When I attempt to enter the Database/user password information it does not seem to accept it. even though it is right.

The Server Name is entered
The Database Name is entered

I enter the username & password and press 'Update' and it just refreshes and shows the password as not being entered. I can purposely enter the wrong password and the same thing happens.

Code:
{Vw_Logs.TimeGenerated} = Date({?Report_Date})

It may be that you don't have the proper connectivity set up on the server, such as the database client or ODBC, etc.

Good point however, I can take the same report w/o the dynamic lists and it works like a charm.

Report w/o dynamic lists will pull records for yesterday, I want to be able to select records for any given day.

Thanks

Are the Dynamic Prompt values coming from the same table
as the report?

If not, be sure to provide both user/pass combos..
