I am trying to personalise infoview for all users. To do this guess i have to set flags in the BOE11.dbo.CMS_InfoObjects4 table? does anyone know what fields do what? and how to personalize infoview for all by doing updates in the BOE11 db?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that making direct SQL changes to the BOE11 db will render your installation "unsupportable" from a BOBJ Technical Support POV, so you may want to rethink that methodology.

There is a BOE-XI document called "Customizing Look and Feel using the CMC and Style Sheets" which you should be able to find on the webiste or request from BOBJ Technical Support.

I would see if that meets your needs before doing anything else.

hi,

thanks. seen this and done it. The doc only covers very basic config.

What I am trying to achieve is when i set up a new user - to be able to set theie default view for them - + which columns they can see - so that they dont have to personalise it themselves.

I am using SecWindowsNT - so cant go in for them - personalise then get rid of the personlise tab from teh CMC - like you could if I was handing out SecEnterprise Logins - if you see what I mean?

Thanks

OK, so you are looking to change their PREFERENCES...

I have an open call into BOBJ support to return the PREFERENCE MANAGER interface to BOE-XI. It was part of Crystal Enterprise, but wasn't migrated forward to XI. The Bug number is ADAPT00611369.

APOS has a PREFERENCE MANAGMENT section inside it's OBJECT MANAGER product that lets you change the preference for users at the Group or User level.

There was a freeware version of the PREFERENCE MANAGER on their site that would UPADATE ALL User Preferences, but they didn't update the freeware for BOE-XI.

There are probably other 3rd Party solutions too - including writing your own application to update the USER PREFERENCES.

Hi, to do this for the reports:
- + which columns they can see
will take more than changing preferences..It is a run-time security issue and can be resolved by using views in the database,BO's Universes or Business Views.

When I say:

- ..."which columns they can see"

I mean ... within the Infoview Client - not actual reports.

Any ideas?? -thanks
