I'm trying to link AS400 db2 two data tables using 'Standard Report Expert' from Crystal Reports 8.5. I've managed to link one record of one table to a corresponding record on another table, but when I try to link a second matching record I'm getting the following error message "Crystal Reports: Link Error Invalid file link. Not all fields in same expression". Connection to the db2 data tables is via an ODBC connection through IBM AS400 Client Access.

Can anybody shed some light on what the error message means and how to solve the issue.

The linking of 3 matching records from the two table works fine when I'm working on it directly from the AS400, it only falls over when I'm using Crystal (Standard Report Expert) to carry out the linking process.

Thanks
Kyn

I do not beleive you are using ODBC to connect to this database, I believe you are using a native connection. ODBC doesn't care if the fields are in the same expression or not.

When you firsy create a report, what ODBC Data source name are you using to write the report? Or maybe you can wlk me through how you start to write a report? Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine
