Hello,
I need to create a cross tab report from a text document. I have no experience in creating this. My experience in crystal reports is simply displaying data.

Here is a sample of the text I get.
00000008309930000000.855 000010000000000000012555555
Each number is a column that pertains to different things. i.e. first 10 are id #'s next 2 are specialty #'s, next one is Age, and columns 14 - 24 are Weights. Everything after that pertains to and answers on a questionnaire.

I connected the text document to crystal reports via an ODBC connection for text documents. I know I will need formulas to get the desired result I need (Which I may ask about on a later date). My question is with the formatting of the text document. How do I need this formatted so I can easily pull out the columns I need to do the calculations correctly? Do I have to create different documents for different column sections?

I hope this makes some sense.

Thanks in advance for any help it is appreciated.

When you made your OBDC connection using the Microsoft Text Driver you should have seen a button labeled Options. If you click on this it allows you to define the column name and column width for the text file. This should make it easier in reporting off the text file.
