I am pretty new to Microsoft Access. I am trying to put my reports from Access online so that everytime new information is added to the DB the reports run realtime.
I have created the reports in Crystal Reports.
Can someone walk me through the steps that I need to take to do this. Do I need to setup some sort of ODBC connection?

thanks in Advance!

If you mean that you intend to have the Crystal Reports create a new instance anytime any field changes in the database, you'll probably need some code in Access or an additional product.

Also it's unclear what " I am trying to put my reports from Access online", it would be great were you to state the specific architecture/products you are using to do this.

Also, please remember to include your software version.

I dont' necissarily want it to create a new instance I just want it to have the new information when the report is refreshed or viewed for the first time.

Sorry I havn't explained myself very well.

I have a database that I have ftpd to a website. What I am assuming is that if I have the DB on a website or some sort of a connection then all I have to do is ftp the Database anytime new information is added. I don't want to have to run the 100's of reports and export all of them with the Data everytime new information is added.

I am unsure the best way to do this. If I upload report it won't run unless you have crystal reports installed. I obviously don't want everyone to have to have Crystal reports to see the report.

Hope this makes sense.

If you run a report, it will refresh the data so I don't think that you need to do anything.

FTPing an entire database sounds costly.

I still don't understand how the users are displaying reports, do you have Crystal Reports embedded in the Access application?

It sounds like your main issue is avoiding the need to purchase Crystal for each user.

You can purchase a single license of "Crystal Developer" and create your own Crystal Reports viewer that you would install on each user's PC.

You can purchase Crystal Reports Server so that users can view reports on the web (price depends on how many active users you need to support).

You can purchase a 3rd-party viewer. For a list, see:
