Crystal Reports and MAPI in Metaframe XP

I'm am Visual Studio application developer using Crystal Reports 8.5 within a Metaframe XP environment on Win 2K SP 4.

The problem I'm experiencing is when I use the 'export' feature while print previewing a Crystal Report and set the destination to Microsoft Mail (MAPI) the Outlook client does not launch without Outlook being started first.

When I try this same procedure on my 'regular' desktop (i.e. non-Citrix) this function works fine. The Outlook client opens without Outlook actually running.

Additionally, I have an older version of Crystal Reports (4.5) on another Metaframe server that this procedure works perfectly.

I suspect that this is some sort of permissions problem.
No error messages are received when I try this, basically nothing happens when I try to export via MAPI without Outlook being opened first.

Any thoughts on where I should start looking?
Any methods I could try?

Get a hold of filemon and regmon from sysinternals, they will tell you exactly what is going on, it may show permissions or even missing dll's.
