Crystal Reports against Paradox tables - data missing ???

A client of mine presented me with something of a problem.
They're currently using a system that makes use of Paradox tables (developed some years ago now) and have created a Crystal Report against it.
When they're generating a list of 'Default Values' for a Parameter field (via means of the selection of 'Browse Table' / 'Browse Field' pairing) the full set of data is not returned.
Entries are clearly missing (that are present in the underlying table).

I've tried a similar trick, creating a new report using just one of these Paradox tables.
I've added a single field to the report (for instance 'CompanyName') and the full set of data is shown across the report pages.
However when I use the 'Field Explorer' and select that same field ('CompanyName'), right-click and use 'Browse Data' I get the same same cut-down list (as found when setting up the 'Default Values' list for a Parameter field).
The field in question is of an alphanumeric (string) datatype.
There is nothing (obvious) in common with those that are shown / not shown that indicates what the problem may be.
How can we correct this ?
[Such that the 'Browse Data' (and set up of Parameter Field 'Default Values') pulls in the full set of data] ?

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this has left me scratching my head (and questioning my Crystal abilities). :)
Thanks in advance,
Steve

What version of crystal?

Version IX of crystal is the only one that does this out of the box. In older versions this was controlled via a registry setting. Search the registry for MaxNBrowseValues and you should find it.

Please also be reminded that in all versions of crystal older than XI, this is not a dynamic setting, it is static. So if you add another customer (or whatever) to your database, you will have to manually rebuild the default values list every time.
