We use Crystal 8 professional edition (due to client constraints). Reports are generated by ASP page using the Crystal ActiveX viewer to view the report. Parameters are sent to a stored procedure to populate the report with data (Oracle 9i).
The site maintains 15 reports; 14 of which export with a click of the button. The 15th report, however, will NOT export.
--> The Export button is clicked
--> The SaveAs (file) Dialog box appears. Enter(or select) a filename -no problem
--> The Export dialog with progress bar appears indicating export progress - however, at this point, nothing occurs. The dialog will maintain itself on the screen for upwards of 50 minutes before a 'Cannot Export' dialog is thrown by the ActiveX.
--> The report exports properly at the 'local'(development) level, both on ANY development machine.
--> ALL the CReports are managed on the same server (therefore DLLs etc should not be a concern) and all reports - except this one - perform flawlessly.
--> A templated ASP page calls these reports; only minor modificatioins are required for each report - otherwise, the calling page is identical.
--> Since the reports are all 'run' from the same server, permissions should not be a problem.
--> We've attempted to run the report locally ON THE SERVER, and it exports perfectly from within the CR IDE.
--> Since this report exists for several other clients (with cosmetic differences), we replaced the Client version with a 'known'good version of another client's report (after carefully refocusing the report's data source and reverifying). The report displays, but it too will not export.
Totally mystified as to why 1 report will not properly function in an environment where over 120 other reports are exporting properly....
ANY guidance - suggestions - resources (I think I've tapped out Business Objects' site - but....) - would be appreciated.
