Hello.

Here where I work, people use Crystal Reports 8.5 and XI side-by-side. I do not know why. I was just hired recently as PC support, so I do not use the programs at all, only install them.

I had installed XI before I realized that 8.5 needed to be installed. To install 8.5, I was told that I have to start with 5.0, then install 7 over it, then 8, then 8.5. Well, I had to uninstall XI because 5 wouldn't install with XI already installed. This isn't the problem, though.

After finally getting everything installed (8.5 and XI, as well as SP3 for 8.5 and a couple SPs for XI), XI worked, but not 8.5. The problem occurs when getting tables for the standard report expert. I click the database button, go to More Data Sources, Oracle Server, and then enter the username and password. So far, so good. It pulls up a list of table names. I choose one and add it, and it shows in the Tables Available for Report box, which is behind the Data Explorer window.

Once I close the Data Explorer window, the table which was in the Tables box now disappears. I have no idea why. This is the problem. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks,

Ben
