Hey everyone...

We are setting up a new CR 2008 server.. moving from CE9.

The majority of our reports use an Oracle connection and I am having issues with the report server running any of the Oracle Reports. The reports that pull from SQL server work fine.

I am getting this error msg.

Error Message: Failed to open the connection. ~tmp199063d481034b3.rpt Details: [Database Vendor Code: 12154 ]

This was for a simple report that pulls back 1 column/100 rows of data.. nothing fancy.

On the server I am able to use the Oracle Client and pull data back from the database using the TNS Name..

Anyone have any ideas on something I could try..?? I have tried everything I know...

The credentials used to run the SIA process have to be able to authenticate to the database. I would guess that this domain account has rights to the SQL Server, which is why those reports work and the Oracle ones don't.

I don't have CR2008 Server handy, but I believe that in the Process tab for each report you have the option of storing database credentials - typically some service account created for this purpose. This would probably be easier than granting rights on the Oracle db to the Windows domain account used to run the SIA.

I found a PDF Doc online that had an "Oracle connecttivity issues"

---------------------------------
Oracle connectivity issues

If you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 on a 64-bit Windows platform, Oracle database connectivity issues may occur. If Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 is installed to a location that contains brackets in the folder path, for example, C:\Program Files (x86)\, it will be unable to connect to an Oracle database. Certain Oracle database clients such as version 10.2.0.2 or 10.1.0.2, may not function properly with any application that has brackets in its folder path. When installing Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1, select an installation path that does not contain brackets, such as C:\Program Files x86\ or contact Oracle support for an updated database client.
