Crystal Reports 11 - How do I call a report from a Clarion embed? 1

Hi Everyone,

Can you tell me how to run or call a report created with Crystal Reports 11 from within an embed? I plan to call it from a button accepted embed.

I am downloading Crystal Reports now so later I will try it. I found a sample app which I will try as well.

In the help I noticed that they are refering to version 8 and 9. Will this also work with version 11?

Yes, since it is all based on the CRPE32 library. Check

for their Crystal clear class or Crystal RDC wrapper.

I tried the sample app that allow the choosing a an existing report. When I tried to preview the report I get a messages that tells me Crystal Reports is not installed.

Is this a bug?

Hi Emad,

Better to look at Crystal Clear class from Klarisoft. Clarion's own implementation is lacking i.e. it does not authenticate to the SQL server and therefore will work if you have windows authentication or you will need to enter the user/password everytime.

We plan to use the Topspeed odbc driver to connect to the TPS tables with Crystal Reports so I don't think the report will try to do any loggin in.

Do you know why the sample app insists that Crystal Reports is not installed?

I have a copy of the data-link Crystal Report viewer evaluation version by Millet Software, but did not try it from Clarion yet.

Do you also know how to make a call to the operating system command line? Maybe we will use data-link. I will also check out the Crystal Clear class as see how it works.
