A friend of mine has a small business and has been doing very 'general' reports in Peachtree. He asked me if I would help him do a couple of reports in Crystal Reports. I do not know either one but have been in this business to know that you can learn on the fly if its not too bad.
I do know Access (if that helps and do work with Oracle databases at work)...
The reports he wants are very general... mostly inventory... who bought what when and in alpha order.... sum up sales by customer.. not too bad.

I have loaded both PEachtree and Crystal Reports.

My questions are:
How to I access his data that is in 'peachtree' so that I see it in Crystal Reports.
The other question is once I see his data in crystal, is there a way that existing reports in Crystal I can copy/tie to his peachtree data?
Once I have all of the report done and tested, how do you fire off the 'icon' in peachtree to print the crystal report that I did?

I do appreciate any response and thank you in advance...
Ron

I believe Peachtree has a Btrieve/Pervasive - various quieries have come up about it in forum321 and forum318. We access Btrieve data from a legacy system and we go through the ODBC DSN. You may well have to install pervasive onto your PC (or Transoft or Merant depending on your preference) If you set up the DSN properly you can then link into access or crystal or anything - as I was saying earlier - take a look in forum321 or forum318 for further info...

Best of luck,
Tom

I am not sure what version of Crystal Report you are using. Anyway, in version 9, there are some very useful sample reports that you can located at C:\Program\Crystal Decision\Samples\En\Reports\General Business.

There are some different type of sales reports, accounting/inventory analysis that I used to refer to. I find it very useful, sometimes just replace the fields and I will get the beautiful and accurate result.
