Hello,
I am a network administrator at a small company given the task of producing a productivity report for our company. We use peachtree for our payroll and employee benefits data. I need to be able to get a list of all employees and how much they were paid during a specified time period. I also need to be able to get the same info on how much we pay for employee benefits. Unfortunately, I know nothing about Peachtree and btrieve files. I do know Crystal though. Does anyone know where I can find info on how to find the data I'm looking for? Or how to do this easier?

Peachtree is s wierd duck in the Crystal Reports world. First of all you should probably connect natively to file.ddf (Peachtree uses btrieve 6.15). At that point there are still several tables which Peachtree, for whatever reason, decided not to expose to their .ddfs, most notables time tickets and bills of material. If you need to work with a file that is not available, there is a product called PawCom which has the Peachtree tables as refreshable tables in MS Access.

ANopther thing you are likely to run into is the JrnlHdr and JrnlRow tables, which contain EVERY transaction within Peachtree, regardless if it produces a journal entry or not. I have a pretty good 2 page document on how to find the data you are looking for in these tables, if you email me I will send it to you.

Finally, there are a couple of UFLs that Peachtree uses, most notably GetPeachRowAMount() whioch retrieves a cost of sales record associated with a Sales record. Since all of this info is same tables, just on different records, this function saves you from having to write complex formulas and/or subreports to retreive the data you need, which in a Btrieve 6.15 environment can take forever.

Let me know if you have any questions, I have been working a lot with Peachtree over the last several months. Software Sales, Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine
