Hello

Is it possible to run a crystal report which will use the results of an Ms Access query as input. I'm getting the following error messages when I try to link to one.

ODBC error:[Microsoft][ODBC Ms Access Driver]
Too few parameters Expexted 1.

and then--

SQL Server error

Access is querying an SQL Server Database. When I use a Maketable query, it works of the new table.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, this is possible, I have done this many times. I would check your MS Access odbc driver and/or DSN. Can you read from the Access DATABASE instead of reading the query? Also, try a direct (non odbc) connection.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes I can read from an access table but not a query. I added new file, user and system DSN's and pointed them directly to the required Database But still no joy. The Access ODBC driver version is 4.00.5303.01. I'm running windows 2000 and Office XP.

I don't have Access XP so I am not in a position to confirm your results (or lack therof). This may be a bug. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

OK, I ran accross something on another site this weekend that says you cannot use a MS Access query as a datasource in Crystal is the MS Access Query has parameters.

Again this is untested. If this is your situation please remove the paramters, run the report and post the results. Software Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Can you use the query if you don't try to link to it?

Thanks again for your replies

My Access query had one paremeter. I removed it and everything worked. I then put the parameter into Crystal (it's only a Date parameter) and it worked.

In another newsgroup I was told to tick the stored procedure option under SQL settings. This seemed to go a bit further but didn't work either.

In answer to Ken the live data is on SQL Server so to go live I need to link to it. Once I get the project up and running I might try and convert the access queries to stored procedures on SQL Server and link to them. I imagine this would be more effecient.

Again thanks, persistence wins out in the end.

Paraic-

Thanks for posting back to the board with your final solution. A lot of people don't do that and it defeats the purpose of the board, which is not to solve your particular problem, but to solve it AND share information.
