Most of the times user are using Oracle reports. We are running oracle reports through forms 6i.

We have been forced to develop one report in crystal, since crystal is more flexible tool then oracle; it is easy to accomplish our task. But how can I deploy my report to client. In near by future we may develop a few more reports but not in large number.

Is there any tool, which can be used as user screen to interact and run this report? We are not ready to invest any $.

We have Crystal enter price CD, which came free with purchase of CR. Does it helps? With out any investing $

You are going to need some kind of viewer on the client side for them to view the report(s).

Ken Hamady (kenhamady.com) has several viewers listed in his Tools section that are affordable and might be worth a look to help you expedite a solution.

Also the Crystal Enterprise CD you received would/could certainly have a place if you have an available web server and want to get it installed and configured. The free version will allow a limited licensing model, but you could add the report(s) to the Enterprise system and have your users view the report via the ePortfolio (the user portal).

There is also the ability (with CE) to call the report over the URL, but with Oracle this method can expose your database log in credentials.

If you happen to have any in-house developers familiar with API coding in VB or C++, they might be able to quickly take advantage of the Crystal Print Engine API andintegrate into Oracle Forms. Here is a link to a realted sample --

Use the Crystal Enterprise CD, it's free and it's easy to set up.

I believe that it allows for 5 concurrent licenses if it's the CE 8.0 freebie.

It may have come with an offline viewer too, which would allow users to view reports via an .exe rather than a browser.
