Crystal Report add field to cheque report

Hello,

I was trying to add a the POSITION field from the CTROEH (record of Emplyment)table to the CP51A Check print report.

The report currently only has BKREG, CPPCKD and CPPCKH tables associated with it, so the field is not available by default.

When I add the database via the "Add database to Report" and Find database file, it shows but there are no fields displayed. I must be missing a basic step, so I would greatly appreciate any advice or pointers.

I know that I eventually need to link to the table via some employee ID index.

This is an old ACCPAC 5.1 / Crystal 8.5 install which I'm helping somebody with.

Set Database Location

Thanks for the quick response.

I set the location but I still get only one field in associated with the table ( FIELD1 - String [4252] ) so somewhere I am not picking up the table structure.

Do I set the Database location to the same location as the ctroeh.dat file which I am selecting?

It's a Pervasive file, you need to be selecting a DDF.

With that simple revelation, I was able to select the Pervasive Index file and find all of the tables and fields! Thank you, thank you...

Now I'm trying to link the Cheque to the Employee... It looks like there is no simple index which I can use via the Visual Linking Expert. I dont suppose PayeeId is related to Employee...

I have added the POSITION field onto the report, and I will try to manually add some select criteria via the Select Expert. Hopefully that will work without the need to add indexes.

I hope this is the correct method.

You can't add indexes to any Accpac table. PAYEEID is the link to EMPLOYEE.
