i am writing a report (really a subreport) that counts up how many cases were performed on a given day and how many were cancelled (on the day of surgery)... the problem is that when Crystal goes out to "grab" the data, it is bringing back more information than it should and i dont know why...

ex:
for the month of April we performed 960 cases...
if i run the report just for scheduled cases, this is the number i get, and it also is confirmed elsewhere...

when i adjust the report to include scheduled and cancelled cases, the number of cancelled cases is 87; but the number of cases performed jumps to 982...

i know you will probably need more information to help with this, but i simply dont know where to even begin troubleshooting this... i cant even find a trail of logic behind those numbers...

can someone help me figure this out please?

Hi

We really need to know the select statement of you now the difference between a cancelled and scheduled case.

Can you only have a scheduled or cancelled cas, or are they more lookups for this field

The simplest way to represent any data problem is to supply the table structures used, and examples of what's in the tables, and what the intended output is.

The business rules are helpful too, but secondary to the schema and intent.

i just wanted to thank you again for trying to help me figure this one out... i was so baffled by this one i honestly didnt know what all to tell yall... the structure was fine - i just couldnt understand the change in the numbers...

ultimately i exported the results to excel and compared the details - pulling out the numbers that didnt match up... i then used them in a seperate report and discovered the problem... we schedule C Sections down here because they utilize our anesthesia staff; but we do not typically do the cases down here - there by giving us a scheduled case number but not a logged case number... (the other subreports count up logged case numbers - this subreport counts up scheduled case numbers...)

thanks again guys... you are teriffic!
