I have been attempting to modify the PO Scheduled Receipts report via Crystal. I've succeeded in removing some fields I don't want, but the fields that I insert to the report don't show up when I view in Macola.

Am I missing a step? All I want to do is insert the expected cost and an additional date field, but I'm getting nowhere. I was able to insert the UPC code into the Reprint PO Report, but I'm not sure which of the many things I did got it to work.

Thanks,
Bill

Are they fields from a new table you've added, or a table that was already in the report? If you added them, did you use the same driver to connect, and are your links accurate? Verify the Database! This option is usually in the Database dropdown menu. Are other fields in the same section displaying too? Have you checked for conditional suppressions on the sections your new fields are in?

what is the name of the report (PO????.rpt) and what section(s) of the report are you plaing the new fields?

When I changed the Macporeprnt.rpt I added the Imitmidx_sql table in order to add the UPC code to the report. I got a pop up saying I had different drivers for the report, so I ran through the set location and verify functions. With the Macpo04p1.rpt I am attempting to add the item cost to the detail section of the report. The data is in a table all ready linked to the report, but nothing shows when accessing from Macola, only in the preview in crystal.

Silly question but here goes: Did you save this report after adding the new fields? If so is it in the same location and the same name?

Not a silly question...yes it's in my rpt folder on my client. I don't know if it makes a differance but we are on ES.

Huge difference. Always post what version you are using.

You did not answer my question about the report being in the same location and the same name.

Drop a big hairy text object on your report, save it, run it from Macola and make sure the text object displays - that'll tell you if you're changing the correct report.. You know too, that you'll have to modify this report on every client if it's a 'canned' report - they're all held on the PC's.

You always need to refresh the database on the ICR before you start modifying it. I've spent hours modifying an ICR only to find that without that first step I was toast.

To avoid modifying the ICR for all users, I use this method:

Save the original ICR to a default folder under the module. Modify the ICR until I am satisfied with the result. Save my modified ICR to a saved folder under the module. Rename my modified ICR to the original report name. If I make any additional changes to the ICR, I always save a copy to my backup folder. I also do the the changes in Crystal rather than from the ICR menu.

I'm confused - where do you save the report under the 'module'? In ES, all of the 'canned' reports are lumped together in one folder, and these are all stored on the client PC's.

I read through this quickly & didn't note that it was an ES site. In progression, I was referring to the rpts\oe, rpts\ar folders, etc. Since the distribution file structure didn't change significantly, I would imagine you could just modify the report once & distribute the modified version to your users, but it sounds like it might be a PITA to have to do so. Since we are losing the ability to use compiled reports after 8.5, perhaps a whole other strategy is in order to have the reports accessible to multiple users off the network instead of a client by client approach.

Thanks for all the help...I got a great report out of it finally and distributed copies to all user in need of it.
