I'm not sure if this question should be asked in this forum or the Crystal forum so I thought I would ask it in both forums:

I have Crystal 8 and the MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver.

When I try to create a new report in Crystal, I can see the MySQL database.table but when I select it then I get a pop-up error message: Error opening file. There are no fields in the file: database.table that I'm selecting is listed.

Help in solving this problem would be much appreciated.

Thanks

One way that I got it to work was by creating a command. I too did not have any tables listed but I did not get an error message.

MyODBC 3.51.11

Your navigation might be different in CR8 but I used a More Data Sources, ODBC (RDO) to make the connection. I chose a system DSN that I had previously created. Then I had the option to use a command along with my database that had no tables listed. Using the command option, I chose SELECT * FROM MyTable to get all the fields.

I was then able to create a report and access the fields from the table.

Thanks Dalchri. I might not have time this week but as soon as I can then I'm going to try what you suggested.

I appreciate your help.

This worked great. Thanks again Dalchri.
