I am using crystal 2008. I have an excel 2003 spreadsheet with account numbers. They are formatted as number. In crystal my database field is set as account_no: String[10].

I have the connection setup correctly. The problem is that when I try to link them in Database Expert I get the error of Data Types Not Compatible.

I've tried reformatting the excel field as general, number, and text.

Any ideas on how to make this work. This really might be an excel issue but I was thinking maybe there was something in crystal we could use.

Thanks - Bruce

Perhaps you could create a formula and try to use it in place of the actual table.field:

//{@tonum}
IF isnumeric({YourTable.YourField})
then tonumber({YourTable.YourField})
else 0

Thanks, but I was able to import the spreadsheet into an access database and then link to that table in crystal. The field in access was set to text. It works for some reason.

Thanks.
